Hope everyone is having a lovely Memorial Day weekend. We are really blessed by the men and women that serve our countries and their families that stay behind and support them in their service. I appreciate them all. Our family is blessed in having another generation dedicated to serving our country in the Army.
Well, my progress feels a bit slow to me this week but I am almost to a finish.
Plan to make this into a wall hanging with some black borders which I already have cut out from the quilt I made my son.
I spent yesterday in the kitchen for the most part. It was rainy and a bit chilly so what better way to warm the house than to spend the day baking. Made chocolate chip cookies, banana blueberry bread and tried a rhubarb custard pie which I found on another blog.
The pie didn't set up like it should have but it still taste good. Brought some of the cookies and bread to church today and one of the guy's asked if I needed a roommate. Already have a boy at home, so don't really need another one unless he would do all the heavy yard work that needs to be done and takes me forever to do. I
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. I am off to enjoy the rest of my three day weekend. Happy Stitching!

Girls Weekend
This weekend was our stitch group's monthly get together. Lots of eating, talking and yes even a bit of stitching was accomplished by all. : ) It is always pleasant to retreat from all the chores around the house and spend time with friends instead.
This morning I was working on a cardigan that has been a fight since it started. Don't know what the problem is, so I ripped the blooming thing out and found a new pattern. Figured I would rather work on knitting something that is a pleasure to work on and brings joy instead of frustration.
Did finish my Hardager biscornu that I was working on on Thursday nights with Mom.
Today, I am attending a Single Parent Potluck. My friend, Trisha is in charge so I offered to help if she needed it. Should be interesting as I have not been to an event like this in like four years.
This coming up week will have to be a crack down on the yard work and a phone call to the sprinkler guy. Think I have been embarassed with the state of things and have been putting off calling him. Just need to bit the bullet as I just can't tame the vast yard work by myself. That statement makes me feel old. lol
Have a blessed week!

Also made great progress this week on my cross stitch project. Hoping to finish by the end or this month so that I can start something new.

Happy Mother's Day
Spent some time with mom yesterday and today has been very quiet. Just working on my afghan which I finished knitting this morning and am crocheting a border on. Should be finished with it this week.
Made some progress on my cross stitch.
Almost have the biscornu finished. Just have to line it and stitch it together.
Took my sewing machine in for some maintenance. Of course then I feel like sewing. But I ended up with some great coupons for Joann's so wandered in there after church. Came out with quite the collection as you can see.
Guess instead of actually sewing, I can start cutting them out.
Started moving things around in the spare room so I could put up a design wall and found one of my old cross stitch projects with a coffee stain on it which wasn't there when I pulled it out to start making it into a pillow. So, I decided to wash it to see if I can get it out. Sadly, it didn't come out and the red in the project ran but got most of the red out. Then I took the leftover coffee in the pot and dyed it. Need to get the rest of the pile taken care of so no more accidents happen in there. : )

Progress and a Start
Greating all. Just back from the my favorite nursery. Such a beautiful place. Thought to take pictures when I got home of course. Maybe next time. I was there on a mission though. I was looking of Gerbera daisys. Unfortunately, there was only one to be found which went home with me for sure.
Then I found this Impatien with beautiful foilage.
It is called Painted Paradies Orange Improved. Can't wait to see the flower on it.
So made some progress on my cross stitch this week. It is looking very nice I think.
My goal this weekend is to get to the other corner which just might happen if I don't get distracted by another project. Was almost late for church this morning because I was distracted while getting ready. Started looking for a magazine with an article about retaining walls and a couple of cross stitch patterns which are pumpkins. Since I have been kitting up projects, they came to mind when my dear mom said that I currently seem to have a pumpkin obsession for my stitching projects.
Actually my mom had called me to tell me her progress on this project that we started together this week.
It is a Christmas Hardanger Biscornu which I had bought for us to stitch toether. She pulled it out to work on on our Thursday night get together and since I had mine conviently in my bag it was calling to be started. Did go to Joann's today and found the book "Embroidery Companion Classic Designs for Modern Living" by Alicia Paulson. Beautiful book! If you get a chance you should stop by her blog some day as I find it to be a peaceful stop in my hectic world. It is called http://rosylittlethings.typepad.com/posie_gets_cozy/.
Thanks for stopping by!
